Queridos amigos,
Después de la reunión de Angle, volví a mi clínica, trabajé unas pocas semanas y volví a la carretera de nuevo. Esta vez fui a Genk, Bélgica, con mi buen amigo Renato Cocconi para dar un curso de dos días a la Sociedad Belga de Ortodoncia.
La ciudad de Genk es muy conocida por sus minas de carbón, pero como os podéis imaginar, ya no están en uso, pero lo que fue absolutamente maravilloso fue que han convertido las minas de carbón y todos los edificios e instalaciones de los alrededores en el centro de conferencias. ¿Os imagináis estar en el medio y rodeados de toda la maquinaria que se utilizaba y que ahora es parte del paisaje y del diseño interior? Creedme, estaba precioso y muy bien hecho. Deberíamos aprender de esto y no ser tan felices cuando destruimos edificios emblemáticos.
El congreso fue todo un éxito. Había aproximadamente 200 doctores y todo perfectamente organizado. La sala principal, preciosa y la pantalla hermosísima y eso es importante para que las presentaciones tengan más impacto. Renato habló sobre Tratamientos de la Clase II en dentición mixta y protocolos para el tratamiento de las maloclusiones de Clase II. Yo hablé sobre Posición Condilar y Oclusión, Control Vertical con ayuda de implantes y Anclaje Esquelético y acabé hablando de cómo afrontar las agenesias de laterales: Indicaciones para Implantes. Tuvimos una muy buena aceptación y nos fuimos con buen sabor de boca y la sensación de haber cumplido con la Sociedad Belga. Colorín, colorado…

after my course in Bucharest I worked for another two weeks then went to Going, Austria, where we had our annual Angle Society of Europe Meeting and as always a very good meeting with incredible presentations and outstanding quality. This year I was elected the new president for the years 2014-2016, it was quite an honor and I now have more work to do !!!!
After the Angle meeting went back to the office and once again worked for a few weeks and it back on the road again. This time to Genk, Belgium with my good friend Renato Cocconi to give a two day course to the Belgium Orthodontic Society. Renato spoke on Class II treatment in the mixed dentition, Protocols for treatment of Class II malocclusions with a hybrid Appliance and Class II: Indications for Camouflage and limited treatment. I spoke on Condyle Position and Occlusion, Vertical Control with the help of implants and skeletal anchorage and Missing Laterals: Indications for implants. The meeting was very well attended approx 200 doctos and we had great success.
The highlight of the meeting was the meeting venue. The town of Genk is well known for its coal mines but as you can imagine they are no longer in use, but what was absolutely marvellous was the fact that they converted the coal mines and the buildings surrounding the coal mines into the conference center. Can you imagine being in the middle of all the machinery that was once used and now it is part of the landscape and the interior design. belive me it was beautiful and very well done. We should all learn from this and not be so happy to destroy…..
